Tropical Wood Art is a family owned and operated business. We hand carve and hand paint a huge variety of plaques and signs for home decor and/or custom commercial, business or professional office signage. Our plaques and signs make wonderful gifts, too! We work with a variety of woods and materials that we sculpt, chain saw, hand carve and hand paint to come up with a huge variety of plaques, signs and individual custom works of art. Many of our standard pieces are tropical or nautical in design. We are a one stop shop for your custom wall pieces, custom railings, custom signage or any other form of custom woodworking. We make benches and cocktail tables, as well. So whatever your mind can create we can make that creation come to life!

We work with a variety of materials out of which we carve, sculpt and paint. These pieces come alive as we go through the processes of hand carving and hand painting. Many of our pieces become three dimensional works of art that are realistic looking in form and color. The first step to our custom work and probably the most important step is the initial consultation with the client. In that conversation we try to establish a clear understanding of what the client is looking for. Depending on the difficulty and intricatness of a custom order we will provide conceptional drawings backed with digital imitry for the client's approval before the job is started. We will also provide pictures of the step by step progress of our work, upon request. For business and commercial signage our prices include our professional installion.

As we come into our spring and summer season we have been working on some very interesting projects. One of our prestigious customers, Congress Hall Hotel of Cape May, New Jersey, asked us to make a birdhouse for the Purple Martin birds into a replica of their hotel. This was quite an undertaking and one that we hadn't done before. Constructing a birdhouse into a replica of an impressive hotel like the Congress Hall was tedious to say the least. The birdhouse was completed and is now installed outside their gift store and looks exactly like the real hotel. The birdhouse will be home to at least eight familes of birds. The Congress Hall was originally built in 1816 and over the years was a vacation spot for such Presidents as Ulysses S. Grant, Franklin Pierce, James Buchanan and President Benjamin Harrison. John Philip Sousa also loved Congress Hall and conducted concerts on its lawn and even composed a march in honor of the hotel, the "Congress Hall March".Take a look in our custom gallery too see this fine piece that we just completed.

Another just finished project for one of our steady customers was replica shark teeth of what would be the size jaw and teeth of a twenty-five foot Great White Shark. Each tooth was individually hand carved and installed into the jaw. They are so sharp that the teeth would cut your hand if you were to try and touch them. It is next to impossible to get the real teeth, mouth and jaw of a Great White, and if you could the price would be in excess of $10,000! The teeth, jaw and mouth that we did looks like the real thing yet they are carved from wood. Check them out in our custom gallery.

Other upcoming projects is a twelve foot Thrasher Shark that will weigh about 600 pounds when it is complete. The customer has reinforced his ten foot wall where the shark will be hung when it is completed. The same customer wants us to also make a four foot open clam that will be made into a waterfall outside his new home.

New orders are starting to come in for our popular custom Tiki Bars and tropical Buffet style adirondack chairs. Soon we will be offering cool cocktail tables and tiki huts made out of wood, bamboo, thatch and other materials. We will also put our tropical wood art's twist to these new pieces offering tropical murals and Parrothead style sayings and ornamental characters on them.
